Kane's Famous First Facts (6th edition) lists the first ATM as being installed by Chemical Bank in the Rockville Center, Long Island, NY in January, 1969.

Who can tell me about the state of ATMs in 1971?  I know Visa started in 
the 60s, and I'm _sure_ I remember ATMs in the early 70s.
