Lydia Vilentchuk was a Russian immigrant to Israel. She had a civil
engineering degree from a German university. When she could not find
satisfactory work as a civil engineer, she became an information
scientist (in other words, a senior librarian without a degree in
library science :-). She founded ISLIC, the Israel Special Libraries
and Information Centers organization, and served many years as its
president.
