The term "to get whacked". Certainly not original there, but popularized
by the show. And, in Meta-Sopranos, "Who gets whacked?" - the question
everyone wonders about with each new season... which major character
will be killed off?
"Going to the mattresses" was popularized by The Godfather, and it's
used in The Sopranos as a clear reference to the movie. They often make
make a point of the influence of pop-culture gang images on the gang
characters in the Soprano family organization.
