Yes. It is indeed an O.Henry story. Unfortunately, my
collection is packed away and I can't get to it. The man
who eats two meals is a tramp called "Stuffy"; his meal
is bought for him by a man who was once wealthy but
has lost all his money; all that man has left is his tradition
which dictates that at holiday time he must buy a meal for
the "less fortunate". The typical O.Henry irony here is that
the man buying the meal is himself dying of starvation.

We have a patron looking for what he believes is an O. Henry story. His
description: "A man who never had eaten a proper meal, ate two meals at the
holidays and died." This does not sound familiar to anyone here--I have been
scanning O. Henry stories to no avail. Anyone recognize this?

Thanks!
