[PW] "Library Police" Story Stumper

Womb*ts:

A co-worker is looking for a story that she remembers reading in a short 
story anthology. She mainly remembers that there was a character(s?) 
called the "Library Police," who, naturally, went after people with 
overdue or lost books.

I already told her about Stephen King's "Library Policeman," but she 
believes that the story may have been in a book of hard-boiled detective 
stories.

Any ideas? TIA.
