Searching Variety's back issues gives us these facts on Broadway's long runs as of May 31, 2005.  It's taken from the publication dated June 6th- June 12th 2005.

As you can see - Deathtrap is listed as having 1,792 performances, which places it at number 28 in this list - which obviously doesn't tally with the positions you found...

No mention of the supposed declaration though...

Subject: [PW] Two Deathtrap facts (Broadway)

Good morning! I seem to be having a lot of stumpers lately! Today I'm trying to verify that Deathtrap, the play adapted from the Ira Levin novel, was the 31st (I've also found 30th) longest running Broadway show. The only mention I could find of this was Broadwayworld.com, but I'm not sure of it's reliability. The other fact that needs verification is that when the play opened in 1978, viewers had to sign a declaration promising not to reveal the plot.
