[PW] Superman, Dumas, and Nietzsche

Question on my own behalf:

I am trying to find a quote I remember only dimly. I read or heard it in 
the last few years, but it could easily be older. A close paraphrase 
would be

The Superman of the comic books is more a descendent of Dumas than of 
Nietzsche.

Unfortunately I really don't know where it's from. Could be NPR, could 
be any number of books, or even some essay or journal article. I want to 
think it's from some laurel-crowned talking head like Joseph Campbell, 
but I have no idea if that's true.

Google has not got me anywhere so far.
