  Is that "McPherson's Rant"? About the hanging of the supposed "Robin Hood" style rogue MacPherson, who was hanged at Banff in 1700. Apparently many a young lady, daughters of wealthy nobles and even possibly a few wives of the same, had their hearts broken at his passing.

anticipation of a move, but I can recall no more than that it MAY be 
"McPherson's Lament", which can be easily Googled.
