Not sure how to explain the difference betwen what you know and what our book says, but according to the 1946-1975 volume of "Standard Catalog of American Cars", shipping weight for a 74 Toronado was 4838 lbs.

Anybody have a reference work listing the weight of the 1974 Toronado?
 I know it was over 5,500 pounds.

This 350-horsepower, 19-foot-long beauty got a whopping 6.8 miles per
gallon, according to the EPA!
