Thanks to Daphne D & Jeanne S & Dennis L --
The poem turned out to be where Jeanne suspected -- the fifth of "Five
short-shorts" from The voice that is great within us: American poetry of the
twentieth century, ed. by Carruth, Bantam Bks, (1970), pp 482-3.
My professor is delighted!
