I recall a PBS program about Irish Americans in which Frank and Malachi
McCourt talked about a turn-of-the-last-century morals crusader named
Parker who had hired a private detective to investigate a burlesque house
of doubtful repute. The detective wound up on stage with the girls, and
the McCourt brothers sang a verse commemorating the incident:
Doctor Parker's on the floor,
Playing leapfrog with a whore,
Tarara Boom De Ay,
Tarara Boom De Ay.
