[PW] Ship Manifestos and the Archives of the Indies

Hello-

 

In the past I heard that for the 1992 Quincentennial of the discovery of
America, a number of Spanish insurance companies digitized many of the
holdings of the Archives of the Indies (Archivo General de las Indias). Is
this true? How does one use them in this format? Subscription fee? 

 

In particular I would like to know, whether or not the archives have been
digitized, where I might find ship manifestos of ships sailing from the
Americas to Seville or Spain? I am especially interested in the medicinal
and foodstuffs such as vanilla and chocolate that were shipped to Spain.
