Yup!
OK.
The English word for Irish is, wait for it, Irish. From the Old Irish Ériu,
meaning "The Island of Ireland", and probably having a word for "land" in
there somewhere.
The Irish word for "Irish" is "Gael", from an Old Welsh word meaning
"Foreigner"
The English word Wales is from Old English "Foreigner"
But the Welsh for Wales - Cymru - means "this place"
