Hi Everyone
I hesitate to wade into this, as I don't want to start a repeat of last
week's angry rants. . . so please take this with the spirit its
intended.
I was told by an Inuit author that the word "Eskimo" means 'one who
eats raw fish' and the Inuit people find the word Eskimo highly
offensive. Granted in the early part of the century many books and
references still exist re: "Eskimo villages" but thankfully more
current literature is more accurate. So please let's be diligent in
avoiding the use of the word 'Eskimo" when referring to our northern
neighbours.
. .. and before anyone asks. . . the author was Michael Kusugak
cheers!
