One website attributes the song, "Looking Back to See," to Jim Ed Brown
and Maxine Brown "with Jean Shepherd." Copyright 1954, Dandelion Music,
BMI. It has been recorded by Buck Owen, Red Sovine, George Jones, and
others. It is not the same as a song with a similar theme, "I Looked
Back," recorded by Perry Como, nor is it the same as the Waylon Jennings -
Willie Nelson hit, "Looking Back, Texas." (sorry, couldn't resist)
