I'd give them a call - the rangers there are *very* knowledgeable and
are more than willing to talk about all aspects of the monument.

Subject: [PW] Lighting of Mt. Rushmore

Would anyone know where to find information regarding the lighting of
Mount Rushmore, such as: --type of lighting, what lights are made of
--how much power is used --how many lights are used

We have checked various websites, including the National Parks site, PBS
American Experience program on Mt. Rushmore, various tourism sites. We
have also consulted several encyclopedias and almanacs. Most of the
numbers that we come across are related to the monument's size. Mention
of lighting is usually made only in describing the nightly lighting
ceremony.

Thank you for any suggestions.
Elise
