In addition to the NIV (New International Version) the NAS (New American
Standard) is also used by many evangelicals. There is also a modern
English translation of the KJV (King James Version) called the New King
James Version (NKJV).

Note that you may read from these and many other translations at
BibleGateway.com
http://www.biblegateway.com

The default translation is the NIV. On this site, you may search by
keyword/s and you may also look up by passage, e.g. John 3:16. Foreign
language translations are available as well.
In addition, many commentaries, bible dictionaries and other reference
tools are available. In addition, Bible reading plans are available --
for example, if your goal is to read through the Bible cover-to-cover in
one year.

At our institution, students are required to take some religion courses
and they frequently have to read a particular passage as well as
commentaries, etc. It is often useful to read the same passage in
multiple translations.

Subject: [PW] Bible Belt Bible

I was asked yesterday what Bible is used by the Evangelicals in the US
today. The patron then added, as a synonym, the Bible Belt. I'm not
sure
the two terms are synonymous; I don't know if there is one particular
translation that all evangelicals prefer. I can't think of any source to

which I have access that will begin to answer this question, so I am
passing
it on to you.
As always, any help will be appreciated.
