No, I'm sorry. That's incorrect. The song from The Sound of Music was "The
Lonely Goatherd" and involved no cuckoo. Nor did the echoic words change
from verse to verse, but remained a yodel throughout.
Complete lyrics to
"The Lonely Goatherd", with irritating MIDI background music, if you're into
that sort of thing, is at http://www.niehs.nih.gov/kids/lyrics/goatherd.htm
Who knew the National Institutes of Health maintained a childrens' sing-along
database?

This was one of the songs in Sound of Music. Don't remember all of the words
however.

is trying to find words and music to a cuckoo song he knew 'years ago'. We
gave him the following two but he says: The refrain had a much longer sequence
that included the words "cukoo". Instead of "Oh di lay le oh. Hoh di loh"
it might be something like this:
> >
> > Oh di lay, oh di lay hah hee yah,
oh di lay cukoo cukoo

and descriptive of the bird.

While singing, add a pat-clap-snap gesture to keep the triple meter feeling.
