All right! I can't take it any longer! I wrote: "Think about it. When you're 
sitting on the john you aren't facing it; having the handle on the left 
allows you to flush with the right hand without
turning completely around."

to which Marian replied (echoing the responses of several others): "BTW, 
anyone who can sit on the potty while flushing with a handle located behind 
them must be very agile."

Point well taken. The relevant sentence should have read "When you rise from 
the john, you are facing away from it; having the handle on the left allows 
you to flush with the right hand without turning _completely_ around (as you 
would have to do if the handle were on the right)."
