According to this BBC website
http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/christianity/features/stgeorge/index.shtml
or http://tinyurl.com/fdo7f
he is also patron saint of soldiers, archers, cavalry and chivalry, farmers
and field workers, riders and saddlers, and he helps those suffering from
leprosy, plague and syphilis.

Subject: [PW] St George & The Dragon & Patronage
Hi
I've just come back from a holiday in Prague (beautiful city!) and
find yet another crowd with a devotion to St. George.
Even more than most apostles, he seems popular in lots of places -
England, the Ukraine, Bohemia - the list goes on.
Does anyone know why this excessive popularity ?
Thanks
Eoin
