Negative evidence: we have READERS GUIDE RETROSPECTIVE, which indexes
SPORTS ILLUSTRATED from January 1961 on per its journal list, but a
search combining journal name and keyword   rucker   gave zero results.

I also tried combining the journal name with keywords   basketball
and  Harlem .  Aside from Harlem Globetrotter stories, I found one
possible:

Title:  Place in the big-city sun
Other Titles:   basketball playground competition in Harlem
Personal Author:        Kirkpatrick, C.
Journal Name:   Sports Illustrated
