Much thanks for this - yes, I can imagine that newspaper reporters might be
so honored by a Governor...
But I came across an old reference to Lester Maddox (GA, 1967-71) giving
such honorary recognition (a Certificate, as an Officer) in the State Police, to
one Alonzo Mann, long before Mann became 'famous" in 1982. The only thing I
can find in common between the two men is that they both ran restaurants in
Atlanta.
