We've had a request from a local library and we too are stumped. Does
anyone recognize this? Know where to find it?
Patron would like to find a poem she thinks is called "The Old
Geologist"
Here is what she says about it:the poem was about a geologist who
accompanies a prospector far, far out into the rugged back country to
look at his claim. The miner thought he had struck it rich. But when the
geologist looked at the mine, he said it was worthless. The miner was so
enraged that he abandoned the geologist and drove off, causing the
geologist to walk many miles back to civilization. So the motto of the
?wise old geologist? is, when asked about a mine, always say, ?Very
interesting?.be it copper, moly, or glue.? We have tried Grangers,
Poetry Archives, Poem Hunter, Litfinder.com,Google,Representative Poetry
on-line, American Verse Project, Bartlesby.com, Americanpoems.com, and
poetry searcher. We ordered a book called What Cheer thinking that the
poem might be one called the "Geologist's Epitaph", but this was not the
right poem. So, because this will take some time, please reply by e-mail
at your leisure. Thanks so much for your work on this.
Thanks for you help.
