The Burrow-Giles Lithographic Co. was a New York City corporation. You
might try contacting the New York Public Library Science, Business, and
Industry Library (SIBL for short). They may have information about 19th
century businesses in NYC or they may at least be able to suggest
research strategy(ies) and other sources of information. Their
reference phone no. is: (212) 592-7000
You may also submit question using their e-mail reference form at:

Subject: [PW] Copyright case Burrow-Giles Lithographic vs. Sarony

The Burrow-Giles Lithographic Co. v. Sarony copyright case was decided
by the Supreme Court March 17, 1884 and granted copyright protection
to photographers. I am trying to locate the first names of the owners
of the Lithographic Company. What were the first names of Burrow and
Giles?

Thanks for any leads,
Barbara Schmidt
