Hi Melissa, sorry for the lag.  I did have that homework key, and that
information is indeed available through MLA Directory of Periodicals.  Is
the question still for Modern Language Notes?  If so, that journal is
commonly called "MLN" - so you just search for that entry and view the
complete record.  When I took the class the ratio was 8:1, 400 submitted, 50
accepted.  Those number might have changed in the last year though.

Is there a directory that includes info on the ratio of articles submitted
and articles accepted for the major academic journals?

I had asked this question at the reference desk at a research university
in my area and they said that there is no such directory.  I would have to
contact the journal publisher if I'm to get such info.  I'm just trying to
verify if this is indeed correct.  And, yes, I am a library student and
was given this question as a possible reference inquiry.
