Some possibilities are the following:
"Two compounds in this class have been submitted for FDA review:
sitagliptin (brand name "Januvia") by Merck & Co., and vildagliptin
(brand name "Galvus") by Novartis. Other major contenders are
saxagliptin (Bristol-Myers Squibb), which is in phase III, and
denagliptin (GlaxoSmithKline), which is in phase II."
COMING DOWN THE PIPELINE, Terri D'Arrigo. Diabetes Forecast. Alexandria:
Jul 2006.Vol.59, Iss. 7; pg. 48, 4 pgs

Januvia and Galvus have been making the news quite a bit lately, since
they are a new class of diabetes drug.

Subject: new diabetes drug?

I don't have access to the mainlist today, so I'm going to throw this
one
here.

A patron (who drives us all nuts, but that's neither
here nor there) heard about a new diabetes drug on
June 6 of this year. She heard it on the radio, and
the phonetic spelling she came up with was

chioechtild

Google couldn't make heads or tails out of that.

Since I know several folks on this list either have diabetes or have a
family member that has it, have you heard of anything that might
conceivably be the drug she heard about?

Pam
