I have a Dover paperback of Nesbit's "Five Children and It". In the
publisher's note at the beginning of the book the following appears:

"...In 1899 her amusing stories about the Bastable children in 'The Story of
the Treasure Seekers' launched her on her remarkable career as one of the
most popular and enduring of all children's writers, and such classics as
'Five Children and It' (1902), The Railway Children (1906), and 'The House
of Arden' ((1908) soon followed..."
