Google define: dichroic

"A type of mirror, reflector or filter which selectively reflects
different wavelengths of light, permitting a projector to transmit more
visible light with less heating of the film. Dichroic mirrors are also
used for internal convergence of 3-tube single lens video or computer
projectors. Diffused Screen A type of rear-projection screen which
spreads the light striking it. Screen gain is typically less than 1 but
audience viewing angles are increased.

"Glass which has a thin metal film vaporized onto its surface. The glass
transmits one color and reflects a different color. Each manufacturer
offers about a dozen different color combinations.

"Displaying two colors - one by transmitted and one by reflected light.

It's called dichroic glass, based on years of attending craft fairs
where various items of dichroic glass have been perused/perchased.

This is for me, so no hurry. I bought a "gemstone" at a craft fair. It
is manufactured through some process with glass and minerals. If I
understand it right, the glass comes in thin sheets and is cut up in
small shapes of your choice. Layers are put together with various kinds
of minerals and heated in a kiln. The various kinds of minerals give
various colors. It looks almost like colored glitter in the glass. The
glass also can be various colors. It is very expensive - something $150
per 4 inch square piece of glass, (her cost). The lady who sells these
said it was called "diac________" which means two colors. Does anyone
know what that word is? Thanks, Suzanne Guinn Calvary Bible College
