I don't know how well this fits, but:

Subject: [PW] Re: reader's advisory for fantasy
Terry Brooks' "Magic Kingdom For Sale" series is about a real world lawyer
who buys a fantasy kingdom out of the newspaper and then deals with all the
strings attached & fine print-- It's funny and has four or five books in
it. Brooks also has another series called "The Word and the Void" which has
a hero in our world trying to stave off demonic influences from another..
Don't remember if he actually travels to a separate world though.
Though Otherland has already been mentioned, Tad Williams also wrote a book
called "The War of the Flowers," which concerns a real world man getting
drawn into a fantasy world of political plotting.
Annnddd, Neil Gaiman's got a few that may fit the bill: "Neverwhere,"
another one about fantasy intrigue, ("American Gods," and "Anansi Boys" deal
with supernatural influences on the real world more than actually separate
fantasy realms but may be useful).
