Dresden was retaliation for the bombing of Coventry, I think, Brian.

Harris didn't piss about.

However, I suspect that we are coming a little too close to modern politics to pursue this
much further.

Though Dresden comes to mind immediately as perceived vandalism,
there was a comparably hostile reaction to the earlier German Dirigible
attack on London in WW1. Guernica is also an evocative name in this respect.
