Oh, I agree, but one can't tell that to a patron's face, can one? SCORE
is supposed to give sage advice, it isn't there to hold someone's hand
every step of the way. I'll be astounded if she ever gets off the
ground - she doesn't strike me as a "keep an eye on the ball" sort of
person. But I'll refer her to some of the other suggested places, and
maybe one of those folks can talk some sense into her (not holding my
breath)

Old buzzards from SCORE? I think they couldn't help because she doesn't
have a clue what business she wants to go into. I agree with Connie's
assessment of the problem the person has...she wants to be "given" a
business rather than doing the work of researching and starting one.
But I
don't think it is fair to blame SCORE for her lack of ambition. I have
sat
down with SCORE representatives and they were extremely helpful in
making
suggestions. They may have been mature individuals, but we are too quick
to
discard our older citizens (one of which I am quickly becoming) and call
them names for no good reason than looking clever. Maybe I was just
lucky,
but I sure wouldn't call the SCORE people names on the basis of a person
who
seems to have made no effort to do her groundwork. I would set her down
in
the library in the Small Business section and suggest she do her
research
first before looking for a consultant. Just my opinion, worth nothing
these
days.
