One of my patron's remembers this poem from years ago, and wants to know
the author (and the exact poem). She wrote down as much of the poem as
she remembers, and I've been unsuccessful in identifying the author, and
she's not sure about the title/first line. Any help and information is
appreciated!

What's Wrong with the Negro Race
That's a hard question to answer, but I'll attempt to make a trial
(try-?).
I wondered about the Negro race ever since I was a child.
There are too many races on this earth that is proposing and doing fine,
but what's the matter with the Negro race that we are so far behind.
We make more noise about religion than any other race or nation,
but the biggest trouble with the Negro race, they don't believe in
cooperation.
Other races have unions and pay the fee what ever the cost
and ready to follow their leaders and honor them as their boss.
We are just like crabs in a barrel; we act just like clowns,
if one tries to pull himself up, the others tries to pull him down.
