A handsome reconciliation from Lee Hadden, as one would expect from a fellow Northern Virginian;  and I'll gladly partake of some of that spaghetti and meatballs, in any language.  As for the translation issue:  Why not just leave it in the hands (tentacles?  pasta strands?) of His Holy Noodleness?  I'm betting that he knows the answer already.

As for the Polo story itself, one cannot do better, again agreeing with Lee, that -- in the language of Polo's own country (or country-to-be, pending that pesky problem of Italian unification) --
