Copy the first ed. data and make the necessary changes, esp. the date
in the call no.

LC does not necessarily catalog everything sent to them; LC has
collection development policies just like other libraries. His 1st
book is not n the catalog because either it was rejected for the
collection or is caught in the backlog somewhere.

For many self-published authors the insistence on CIP amounts to an
affectation. It's NOT necessary to include it. There is no cache to
having CIP data printed in your book. Many large publishers don't
include it any more. If a libray wants to add his book to their
collection, they'll catalog it then.

LC's CIP office is short-staffed (2 people have left) at the moment
and without a section head. There are no plans to fill these
positions, rumor has it. They are in the process of reassigning the
CIP workflow. I'm sure the existing work is backlogged.
