[PW] Fourth Annual Sociological Research Symposium: NCJRS does loan things

Did you contact NCJRS about borrowing the item? They do loan things,
and, as a rule, the items listed in the abstracts database reflect the
library holdings. Interlibrary loan information is available at:
http://www.ncjrs.gov/Libill.html
If you already did contact them, and they said they couldn't find the
item, that's another story, of course. If you did try to brow it, and
they gave you an argument, I'd be interested in hearing about it.
Depending on the borrowing library's situation, or the item's condition,
loans can be somewhat pricey, so I borrow from other sources whenever
possible. Judging from the length of the document, NCJRS should be
willing to photocopy it for about $10.00.
Incidentally, the NCJRS Abstracts Dababase(
http://www.ncjrs.gov/library.html) is a handy resource to keep in mind
when doing criminal justice research. Even if the item never turns up,
at least the students (what I work with) have the abstract to work from.

Try WorldCat.org today: http://www.worldcat.org/.
WorldCat.org allows you to search for books at U.S. libraries, including
"North E Multi-Regional Training" (as our name appears in the listing).
The system uses your zip code to show which libraries in your area have
those books. You can then take that information to your public or
college library, and ask the interlibrary loan librarian to borrow a
nearby copy. If NEMRT has a copy, just give me a call about borrowing
it. I'll look forward to hearing from you!

Hello,
I have a patron that found this citation from the National Criminal
Justice Reference Service at
http://www.ncjrs.gov/App/Publications/abstract.aspx?ID=13234 He would
like to have a copy of it. I cannot find it (tried WorldCat) and it
does not appear to be available directly from NCJRS. I have an email in
to the Sociology Librarian at VCU, but was hoping that someone might
know where there is a copy. I tried to track down the author, who
appears to be Laurence A. French, but according to Web of Science, he
has not published since 2006 and I cannot find him listed in the
directory for the affiliate university: Univ of New Hampshire.
I tried Google Scholar to try to confirm the citation a bit more and
it only circled me back to the NCJRS. I tried Sociological Abstracts to
see if it might have been republished in another venue, but did not find
it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
