After consultation with some people on another list, I found this:

Sweden or the US?
She could contact Statens Musiksamlingar, http://www.smus.se/.
My guess is that the best person there is the head of the collections,
sven.ottosson at smus.se. (Oddly enough it says sten.ottosson at smus.se on
their web page, but when you click on the link, it becomes sven.)
Or she could contact STIM, the Swedish Performing Rights Society in
Stockholm - They register all the Swedish songwriters, composers and
publishers and their works in order to collect royalties, and have a
database that should include his work and who the royalties are paid to (his
family, estate, etc). However, if he moved to the US, he might have joined
one of the 3 US copyright licensing societies - ASCAP, SESAC (1930) or BMI
(1940). You can search their online databases and see what you can find.
