Subject: [PW] Old movie with bridge over lava stream?
This is for me so no hurry,
The family were chatting about watching Midday Movies (a staple of hot
summer holiday days when I was a child - watch the movie in the heat of
the day and emerge later to the cooling sea breeze). My sister and I
played a lot of games about bridges over burning lava after watching a
midday movie with the following plot (as far as I remember)
Island (Caribbean?), heroine possibly rescuing orphans in a bus (bit
wobbly on that memory), hero (and buddy, seem to remember deep and
meaningful conversation whilst holding up one end of bridge?) sacrifices
himself to keep the bridge over the river of lava intact so heroine (and
orphans?) can escape... Probably black and white (tho we didn't have a
colour TV at that stage), 1950's -ish in ethos and dress...
Any thoughts? I don't think we dreamed it up...I can't find it in the
IMDB or by Googling with the sketchy bits I can remember...
