[PW] Defense knives info

Hello, all. I have a patron who is looking for information regarding the kinds of knives used by personal bodyguards, military personnel, police SWAT, etc. Patron is doing research for a book character who is a personal bodyguard and would like him to have an authentic/believable defense knife. Prefers something that the character could wear in a concealed shoulder harness rather than on a belt or in a boot sheath. Prefers something that can pierce and cut.

We don't have any good encyclopedia sources here, and variations on Google searches are giving me sites with little information and lots of "busty babe" ads, none of which leads me to think they have reliable technical specs and information. Can anyone offer a book or Internet suggestion?
