The musical is based on the Bergman film, Smiles of a Summer Night (1955/1957). I saw a lot of Bergman films in the early 60's at the Clark Theater in Chicago. This one is atypical--a romantic comedy. Liz Engman Elk Grove Village (IL) Public Library lengman at egvpl.org
