The writer Carol Emshwiller has died, on Saturday morning, it was announced yesterday by her daughter, filmmaker and writer Susan Emshwiller. She was 97 years old.
Her first three published stories were the following:
Built For Pleasure (Long Island Suburban, November 1954)

The Victim (Smashing Detective,Vol. 4, No. 2, September 1955)
This Thing Called Love (Future Science Fiction, no. 28, December 1955)
And while she would continue to write a lot of fantasy and sf, and a lot contemporary/mimetic fiction and metafiction, and only occasionally further crime fiction, she also was a consistent innovator in all the fields she turned to, including her two western novels, as well as a consistently and widely influential feminist voice in literature.
