In 1985 an American publisher wrote some “Binding specifications” including the line 


    “STAMPING: 1 operation in APRL S-64. Layout enclosed; die to come from Merit.” 


In 1986 this was changed to 


    “stamping: APRL Dusted Foil White Gold”. 




So: 


    • What does ‘APRL’ mean? and 


    • What does ‘S-64’ denote?
