It was in his introduction to Heartbreak House (1919) that George
Bernard Shaw quipped: "Alas! Hegel was right when he said that we
learn from history that men never learn anything from history,"
I can't find any appearance of Hegel's dictum before Shaw.
Where did Hegel make this observation? The source and the original
text in German would be helpful.
