Dear List Members,
I have a patron who is looking for evidence that the Dakota Sioux were settled in the Red Lake area of Minnesota in 1736. He is following up on a theory that the men who killed Pierre La Verendrye's son, the Jesuit priest Aulnea, and 19 other Frenchmen in Lake of the Woods were Dakota Sioux from the Red Lake area. If you have any information, please let me know.
