[PW] Help me remember ...

For me, zero urgency!

Some 60-70 years ago I lived in Carversville, Bucks County, Pennsylvania

I distinctly remember that, towards the end of WWII, all of the local
street and directional signs were taken down, as a precaution against a
possible East coast German invasion.

When I search on Google I easily found reference to signs being removed
in the UK, but I did not see any references that suggested that the same
thing happened in the USA.

Happen someone can give me the dates when this occurred/ended? Or am I
simply losing my mind?
