[PW] ISO: African memoir re: class consciousness

Hi,

I am looking for a nonfiction book that appears to be a memoir. The patron 
describes the contents as "written by an African male, maybe from Ghana or 
Kenya, about the dilemmas of having come from blue-collar roots and as an 
adult, is now in a higher-educated class." He does not know when it may 
have been published.

I thought this could possibly be Dreams from my father by Barack Obama, 
though it doesn't fit the description exactly. Does anyone have other 
suggestions?

I have tried searching WorldCat, Google and Amazon with both LCSH and 
keyword searches, but I'm not coming up with anything.

All suggestions greatly appreciated.
