Greetings, ladies and gentlemen,
I'm a college student and amateur historian seeking
information about the military reforms in 15th-century
France, particularly in respect to the mounted
Cmpagnies d'Ordonnance. I have found many online
resources describing their organization at the highest
and lowest level (that is, 100 "lances," each with 4
combatants and 2 unarmed pages), but so far I've had
no luck in figuring out the internal organization of
the companies--whether they were divided into ten
10-lance units like the Burgundian Ordonnance
companies in their early stages, into four 25-lance
squadrons in the Italian manner, or in an entirely
different scheme from the two possibilities above.
Any help would be appreciated, and thanks beforehand!
Lafayette C. Curtis (Lay)
