Warning |

As mentioned in the terms and conditions, any personal information sent to Project Wombat is permanently and publicly archived. Make sure not to leave personal information in your e-mail (including signatures) unless you don’t mind having it in the hands of strangers. |
About Names |
---|
We occasionally receive requests to be unsubscribed from the list from people who did not give a name when they subscribed. Almost inevitably, their e-mail address has changed arbitrarily since they subscribed, with the old address forwarding to the new one. Beginning in May 2009, we will feel free to delete any subscription without an associated name in the process of unsubscribing people who have such problems. Therefore we strongly recommend giving a name for your subscription. Subscription names are private, as are e-mail addresses, and are used only for administrative purposes. In fact, we don’t mind if you make up a name to go with your subscription, provided you remember what it was. |
About Passwords |
---|
You may enter a privacy password when you subscribe. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from tinkering with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options. Once a month, your password will be emailed to you as a reminder. |
This version of Project Wombat has no posting guidelines, and all posts from subscribers to all versions of the list are immediately distributed. The only thing forbidden on this list is commercial e-mail; other than spam, anything goes.
There are two other versions of this list, which you can find elsewhere on this server.
At the present time, Project-Wombat-Open has 64 subscriber(s). (This does not count subscribers to the other versions of the list.)
Send your posts to list@project-wombat.org rather than the usual Mailman address. If you suspect that your message violates the posting guidelines, then you can use the address list-open@project-wombat.org instead.
It might not be a bad idea to read the list FAQ before you post, just in case.
You can subscribe to the list or change your existing subscription in the sections below.
Subscribe to Project-Wombat-Open by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator.
To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the Project-Wombat-Open Archives. (Note: due to circumstances beyond our control, the archives have been reset. We may or may not be able to restore them to the standard archive interface. Even if we cannot do so, we will make a searchable copy available at some point in the future. Meanwhile, you can download a file containing the text of the first year of posts to the Open version of the list, which is the most complete of the three versions.)
At present, Mailman does not allow you to directly search the list archives. However, those clever folks at Google allow you to restrict your search to a particular site, or even a subsection of a site, via an Advanced Search. You can either use the form below to perform such a search, or go to the Google Advanced Search form and restrict the search results to the Domain “lists.project-wombat.org/pipermail/project-wombat/”. (If you merely restrict to “lists.project-wombat.org” you will retrieve results from all three versions of the list, which may include duplicate results.)
